This month we will be testing our soil using a Luster Leaf Soil Test Kit. Testing provides you with the information to maximize your growing conditions. Great soil=healthy plants. Come and learn about soil acidity (pH), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), Potash (K), and if you would like, you can even test your own soil!

Want to test your soil? Bring a sample (about 1/2 cup) in a clean clear jar. The sample should be from a combination of several samples taken from 4 inches deep. Mix the samples together. Break up large chunks with a spoon or trowel (no hands). Allow the soil to dry. Remove large hard pieces: pebbles, grass, roots. This will make it easier to perform the tests.
