Plan to Celebrate!

What is a sesquicentennial, anyway?
Westhampton 250th

How would you like to help plan for Westhampton's biggest birthday party ever?

Originally part of Northampton, Westhampton was first settled in 1762, and officially incorporated on September 29, 1778. The first town meeting was held just two months later, on November 19, 1778, at which the Reverend Enoch Hale, brother of American spy Nathan Hale, was chosen to be the town's first minister.

In 2028, Westhampton will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its incorporation as a Massachusetts Municipality.  To memorialize the occasion, the Westhampton Selectboard has decided to appoint a committee to help plan a year-long series of talks, presentations, musical performances, and other events, to celebrate Westhampton's History.

The Westhampton 250th Planning Committee will consist of residents of Town willing to work for the next four or five years planning, preparing and promoting the anniversary.  This 'core' committee will likely be assisted by additional volunteers willing to work on specific presentations or celebratory events.

If you would like to volunteer to be on the Core Planning Committee, send a letter describing your background and skills that would be beneficial to the committee.  Be sure to acknowledge that you are ready and willing to serve on the committee for the duration of the project - through the end of 2028.  Letters of interest should go to:
