The Annual Town Meeting will reconvene at 7:30p.m. on Monday, June 26 to vote on unresolved articles. Budget items that remain open are the Police Department expenses, IT Support, and Cemetery Commissioner Salaries.
The Police Department Expenses includes the hourly pay of the sergeant and officers. The article was tabled with a request to the Selectboard that the rates be reviewed and the expense account be increased to reflect that. The IT Support item was tabled in aniticipation of reciept of estimates for upgrades. The Cemetery Commissioners salary was tabled to allow the voters to first act on the ballot question at the annual town election. Article 18 was tabled in aniticipation of state figures and votes remaining for consideration.
The Annual Town Meeting opened at 9:00 a.m.Saturday, May 13, 2017. The warrant (link below) includes budget items for FY2018. The town approved borrowing authorization up to $47,000.00 for a new Police Department Vehicle. Voters also approved, by 2/3 requirement, borrowing up to $250,000.00 for a new Highway Department dump truck, contingent on passage of a ballot question to be held at a Special Town Election prior to September 15, 2017. Funding in the amount of up to $55,000.00 for a feasibilty study of the public safety complex was also approved. Three additional articles were placed on the warrant by petition and were all defeated.
A special Town Meeting will be held prior to the reconvene, at 7:30 p.m., to fund the snow removal deficit and two additional FY18 budget items. One will seek approval to establish a Police Department Revolving Fund for the School Resource Officer. The other will be to raise and appropriate funds for the Tax Taking Account.
