Final Budget Approved

UPDATE
The Annual Town Meeting Reconvened at 9:00 a.m., June 19 at the Westhampton Elementary School.  Budget items held at the opening of town meeting were voted on, in addition to two articles.  Budget items voted on were to increase Inspector Expenses from $11,400.00 to $12,940.00 ($1,800.00) for wireless service of iPads to utilize the new online permitting program; to decrease the Foothills Health District Assessment from $28,997.00 to $26,084.00 ($-2,913.00) in anticipation of grant funding; raise and appropriate $40,000.000 for a principle and interest payment on the note issued for the remaining balance of the public safety complex design and engineering combined with the new highway department pickup truck; raise and appropriate $255,795.00 for principle and interest on the bond for the construction of the public safety complex.  Articles approved were to transfer $25,000.00 from Free Cash to begin construction of a break room at the highway department garage and to transfer $100,000.00 from Free Cash to balance the budget.

The Annual Town Meeting opened at 9:00 a.m. May 8, 2021 at the Westhampton Elementary School.  Several articles were passed with little discussion.  Two articles were held until the reconvene.  Article 15, to fund design and construction of a breakroom at the Westhampton Highway Department garage, was held to allow time for a written estimate to be provided.  Article 25, to transfer from Free Cash to balance the budget, was held in anticipation of state assessments and disbursements and final vote of budget items.

In addition to the two articles, holds were also placed on long term debt items contained in the spreadsheet under Article 5.  Line items include one for the remaining balance for the design of the public safety complex in combination with the highway pickup (combined principle debt of  $191,832.00), and interest for that debt ($728.96); and principle and interest of the bond for the construction of the public safety complex.  These line items were held in anticipation of determination of principle payments. 

The final article on the warrant to adopt a Resolution Declaring Westhampton to be a Pollinator-Friendly Community passed with 3 opposed, following discussion.

The Annual Town Meeting will reconvene 9:00 a.m., June 19 at the Westhampton Elementary School to close budget items.
