The Foothills Health District is the
Agent for the Westhampton Board of Health

The Board of Health is responsible for performing duties relative to the protection of public health, disease control, the promotion of sanitary living conditions, and the protection of the envirnment from damage and pollution as required by state and local laws.

The three members of the Westhampton Board of Health are appointed by the Selectboard for overlapping three year terms. 

The Board of Health works closely with the Foothills Health District, which serves as its Health Agent on all matters of Public Health, including permitting and inspections of septic systems; permitting of private water wells; enforcement of minimum sanitation standards for food establishments; annual inspections, permitting, and enforcement of state sanitation codes for recreational camps (campgrounds); inspection and (as necessary) condemnation of dwellings unfit for human habitation. 

The Foothills Health District is your first point of contact for all Westhampton Board of Health matters.  All inquires should be directed to the Foothills Health District.

Please note:  The Westhampton Transfer Station, Solid waste and hazardous waste are under the supervision of the the Highway Department, and managed by the Highway Department Superintendent.
